in about half the email submissions i get, i’ll get a “i’m not sure how to do this”. that’s fine, it’s not like it was ever taught in schools. it doesn’t really matter how you format it as long as i can get a good look at your body of work.
however, if you have the time, it would be nice if you write a few sentences about yourself. i want to know your age, too.
if you don’t have a site or a flickr, send a zip of your images, or loosely.
get creative! i’ve once gotten an 18 page pdf as a submission. going out of your way really helps me to get to like you.
i get a lot of emails these days, i can’t reply to all of them. if you don’t get a reply after two weeks, that might mean i won’t be interviewing you (although i do sometimes keep emails for future reference).
and yes, i read all my emails.
